What We Do

The first thing Incedo “does” is commit to practices that reinforce our values.  So you'll find a variety of devotional activities, creative worship, spiritual disciplines, God spaces, gatherings, and giving, all happening.

To join in, make contact with the Incedo base closest to you.  See contacts for a list.

The second part of Incedo is a whole range of events, activities, and programmes.  But here's a warning, if you're looking for a spiritual version of a fast food franchise where we offer clever youth programmes to anyone who signs up, you've come to the wrong place.

Our activities reflect an intersection between our own passions, personalities, and callings, and the needs of our local communities.  So Incedo activity will look different from place to place.  And some of the time we just hang out trying to be useful.

Here's an idea of the variety of expressions you'll find in Incedo:

Surge

Our annual “flagship” event is a whole weekend of service, fun, and worship.  It's our chance to get our “hands dirty” serving a local community.  2007 was in Wanganui and 2008 was in Blenheim.

Stations of the Cross

This an art installation held at Hamilton Gardens each year, leading up to Easter.  To get an idea of the impact of this event go to www.stations.org.nz

Rock Solid

Project Serve

Incedo is committed to developing long-term relationships with communities as diverse as Hicks Bay on the East Cape, and Bago in Myanmar.  The purpose is to find ways to serve local communities, usually by doing hands-on projects that assist their development.

Whether its building a basketball court in the Solomon Isalands, running a kids camp in Vladivostok, or painting a kindergarten in Wanganui, these are all expressions of our intention to serve.

Korean Mission

The Youth for Christ NZ Korean Mission Department is seeking, in culturally appropriate ways, to invite Korean young people to join us in our adventure of faith.  Tim Lee was sent by YFC Korea as a missionary in 2003 and has built up a team of base workers and volunteers who engage with Korean young people in Auckland secondary schools through weekly, student-led clubs. Regular events are held through the year such as multi-media concerts, concerts for visiting performers, and seminars for parents and youth leaders.  An annual secondary school Youth Vision conference is held in April.  Most years, there is an inter-school basketball competition for Korean young students and an Arts Festival.  These activities create connections with Korean young people in secondary schools and universities who are then mentored and coached by Incedo workers in discovering what it means to follow Jesus.  Because of the strong connection the Korean church has with the name Youth for Christ, Incedo has decided to keep the YFC name only for this unique project.  The YFCNZ Korean website is www.yfcnz.com.
